MKMG Mammography Policy MKMG continues to recommend annual digital mammography starting at age 40 as also recommended by the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology, the American Cancer Society, the American College of Breast Surgeons, and the American College of Radiology. Even the studies cited by the United States Preventive Services Task Force (which advocates starting mammography at age 50) still show up to a 15% reduction in deaths if women initiate regular mammography at age 40. It is likely that digital mammography would have produced even greater improvement. MKMG is concerned about the worry created by false positives (abnormalities and biopsies which are normal). We continuously monitor our results and strive to meet national guidelines for this. In addition, we have been recognized as a Breast Cancer Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology. We have monthly multi-disciplinary Breast Cancer meetings to review individual cases as well as general advances in diagnosis and therapy. Our Patient Care Coordinator, Doreen Semel, and Director of Quality Assurance, Rosemarie White, round out a team of professionals that ensure coordinated and integrated care. Please contact them, or your MKMG Physician, at 914-241-1050 if you have any questions. Scott D. Hayworth, MD FACOG President and CEO
