As the premier medical care provider in our region, the Mount Kisco Medical Group is keenly focused on providing our patients with the highest level of service in an environment that ensures their safety. Below are a number of initiatives that MKMG has embarked upon or plans to implement in 2008:
- Since early 1998, MKMG has had an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) which has no handwriting, complete availability of medical information to all physicians participating in the care of a patient, highly visible allergies, easy accessibility of patient medication list, immunization tracking, growth curve tracking for Pediatric patients, and communication between Hospitalists and office physicians. The EMR has been the official record of patient care at MKMG for the last 2 years.
- The utilization of needle protection devices to prevent accidental needle sticks.
- The utilization of pre-filled unit dose syringes for any injectable product for which this is available.
- The requesting of double identifiers from all patients to ensure accuracy at every interaction.
- The voluntary licensing of our laboratory by the State of NY to ensure highest standards for performing any test done in-house.
- The development and implementation of a Specimen Management Department in our laboratory to assure that the correct test is ordered for each patient, and that it is correctly processed.
- MKMG installed PACS in 2004 to make digital x-rays available to each and every physician who wishes to see them. Virtually all x-rays taken are now "filmless".
- The accreditation of our Radiology Department in general radiology, Mammography, Ultrasound, CAT scans, and MRI by the American College of Radiology.
- A Quality Assurance Committee produces monthly reports of our success in treatment of Diabetic and Coronary Artery Disease patients. These reports show how MKMG is doing as a whole, as well as allowing each Primary Care Physician to compare him or herself to all other PCP's anonymously. Our results thus far are among the best in the nation.
- The mainstay and major benefit of a multi-specialty group is the consultation between specialists and generalists, which assures the highest quality care in a timely fashion for each patient.
- The Group is committed to recruiting only the highest quality physicians who have trained at the best institutions for each and every position.
- Electronic reporting of laboratory results to the ordering physician available within a few minutes of completion of the test anywhere in the USA.
- Office hours 365 days per year.
- State of the art diagnostic equipment in every department.
- Reminders sent to patients for certain preventative measures, such as mammograms, pap smears, bone density, and colonoscopy.
- Anesthesia for office-based procedures.
- Every physician at MKMG is Board Certified, or Board-eligible, in their specialty.
- Quality Assurance process for identifying areas needing improvement and monitoring those improvements.
