6. Dr. Jenny So, Internal Medicine, Yorktown

Board certified in internal medicine and practicing with MKMG since July 1997, Dr. Jenny So is one of the group's newer members. She is currently the internist at MKMG's full-service satellite office in Yorktown, which opened in February.

"I'm proud to be a part of this community," she said. "I've met some wonderful people, and I enjoy working with all of the different patient populations, from younger patients to senior citizens."

A graduate of Boston University's School of Medicine, Dr. So received her initial training from working in a variety of clinical settings. One example is the North Central Bronx Hospital Human Rights Clinic, where she provided medical care to tortured international refugees. Work-ing in conjunction with Doctors of the World, the clinic also helped to obtain political asylum for the victims.

Dr. So comes to us directly from Montefiore Medical Center's Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where she served as an intern and resident for three years, and a chief resident for one year. During that time, Dr. So participated in curriculum development, organized

conferences and seminars, and assisted program directors in administration and resident recruitment. She also supervised residents in the outpatient ambulatory care clinic, and received an outstanding achievement award for her teaching of basic skills to medical students.

Fluent in Spanish and especially interested in women's issues, Dr. So takes a holistic approach to her practice.

"I believe in treating the person as a whole, rather than seeing a patient as a list of separate ailments and organ systems," she said.
She has particular experience in treating the elderly, and has given community outreach workshops to senior citizens in the Yorktown area on subjects such as Lyme disease and cardiovascular risk factors.

Dr. So welcomes new patients of all ages, and offers evening and Saturday hours, to accommodate her patients' busy schedules. To make an appointment with Dr. So, call MKMG's Yorktown office at 962-5060.
