Prostate enlargement is a common problem for men beginning as early as age 45. In fact, by age 80, 80% of all men experience symptoms of non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate gland. A significant percentage of these men usually require surgery.

The Indigo Laser Optic Treatment System offers numerous advantages over traditional therapies: it is effective, convenient, affordable and significantly less invasive. During the procedure, the prostate is observed clearly through the standard method of cystoscopy. Then, a fiber is inserted into the prostate gland, which is heated to 85 degrees centigrade for a brief time, resulting in coagulation of the tissue.

This is followed over several months by shrinkage of the obstructing tissues and opening of the passage, thus relieving the patient’s symptoms.
The Indigo Laser Optic Treatment System does not require hospitalization and can be performed under sedation on an ambulatory care basis. It causes virtually no bleeding and also preserves the preoperative level of sexual function for the patient.
