A board-certified internist, Dr. Bernadette Davis-Lorton received her medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania in 1992, then went on to complete her internship and residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York, NY, where she served as Chief Medical Resident from 1995-1996.
For the past four years, Dr. Davis-Lorton served as a staff physician at Mount Sinai Medical Associates - West Side, a satellite practice of the medical center. During that time, she also held an assistant clinical professorship at Mount Sinai Medical College, and started a family with her husband, an allergist practicing on Long Island.
“We wanted our children to grow up in the suburbs, so we began looking for a new home outside the city,” she said.
In 1999, she and her family found their “dream home” in Mount Kisco. Having studied with many superb MKMG physicians during her residency at Mount Sinai, Dr. Davis-Lorton chose to join MKMG in October 2000 and practice at the main campus in Mount Kisco.
“I am a big believer in the value of preventive medicine,” she said. “I counsel my patients thoroughly on the importance of a healthy diet and exercise regimen, as well as cancer screening, smoking cessation and osteoporosis prevention.
“Many people know about the basic food pyramid, but they don’t follow it,” she added. “So, I always give patients a nutrition ‘pep talk.’ For example, adults need at least five servings of fruits and vegetables a day. We need to get enough calcium and watch our intake of caffeine. It is also important to include at least 30 minutes of exercise every day.”
Dr. Davis-Lorton is currently accepting new patients and can be reached at 242-1370. |
